Day 11: Sat 28 Feb - Canberra

16-22 deg C, cloudy for most of the day, with a little drizzle on the ride

Ride G: 41km; total: 206km
Ride W: 41 km; total: 142km
Walk G: 3km; total: 52km
Walk W: 3km; total: 42km

After a tiny sleep-in this morning, we set off on the bikes to Phillip, just so we could observe different scenery. While scouting for a caffeine fix, the only two acceptable coffee shops we could find had standing-room only and were full of loud people trying to be heard over the noise. So in desperation we rode to the nearest Maccas. Quiet as a mouse there and the breakfast/mornos was pretty good. We took a different route home and the path was much better than on the way out. We also witnessed (but did not photograph) a lot of damage on the Yarralumla Creek/storm drain created by a flash flood on 25 Feb. We came home via Bunnings for a few supplies to finish erecting the lattice on the side of the carport. After lunch and a little rest, Greg finished attaching the lattice, then had to go back to Bunnings for more stuff. Job was finally finished late in the afternoon. Mum and Dad were pleased with the result.

Rowing on Lake BG - quite a big regatta today

Greg's handywork completed - the spare wood is going to the Men's Shed on Tuesday.
Lucky for Greg the lattice is plastic and never needs painting.

These two Sulphur-crested cockatoos decided they needed to supervise Greg
