We set off from Goondiwindi at 0640h QLD time and arrived at Parkes at 1600h NSW time, so about 8.5hrs on the road. It wasn't a bad run down the A39, although there were quite a few stops for roadworks. We don't mind these kind of stops as we all need better roads. Of course the normal stops for mornos, lunch and comfort all add up too. Mornos was at Narrabri and lunch at Gilgandra. We stayed at the Memphis Motor Inn, and we had hot water tonight!
After a bit of a rest in the cool room we set off on foot to remind ourselves what Parkes looks like as we haven't been here since 2016. It hasn't changed much, a few more empty shops in the CBD, just seems a little busier and bigger. It's actually a nice place to visit.
